How to Cook a Whole Rotisserie Chicken in an Air Fryer Oven

How to Cook a Whole Rotisserie Chicken in an Air Fryer Oven:

One of the go-to meals is oven-roast chicken, and air frying makes it even simpler. This is my favourite dinner to cook in the air fryer; the skin is extra-crisp, and the meat is luscious and fall-off-the-bone delicious.

  • Any chicken cut may be cooked in the air fryer easily.
  • Cleanup is simple, and the chicken cooks more quickly!
  • Just three items are required (chicken, oil, and a favourite seasoning).
  • The meat is exceptionally juicy, and the skin is particularly crunchy.
  • Great for preparing meals or for dinner.
  • Cook an extra chicken in sandwiches, soups, and salads, or substitute a rotisserie chicken.

With mashed potatoes, a side salad, and your favourite vegetables, serve this air fryer chicken.

Ingredients to Cook a Whole Rotisserie Chicken in an Air Fryer Oven

  • CHICKEN: Pick a bird that weighs between 3 and 4 pounds.
  • OIL: A small amount of olive oil is used to assist the seasoning in adhering to the skin and improving its crispness. Instead, you can use cooking spray.
  • SEASONING: Seasoning the skin before cooking enhances the flavour. Use your preferred seasoning mixture if you have one. Otherwise, a straightforward seasoning of salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, and garlic powder works well. Add your preferred ingredients, such as rosemary, oregano, dried basil, lemon zest, or onion powder.

How to Prepare Whole Chicken for Air Frying?

This dish may be made in only three simple steps.

  • If the chicken has giblets, take them out and use paper towels to dry them off.
  • Rub with seasonings and oil (per the recipe below).
  • Follow the recipe’s instructions when cooking.

Guides to Success

  • Look inside the bird, then take out the giblets (they can be saved for giblet gravy). Don’t be concerned if you don’t notice them; not all chickens have them.
  • Many chickens are delivered strung up. The chicken may be too massive and contact the air fryer’s lid if it weighs more than 4 pounds. Untie it before cooking if this is the situation. Use the palm of your hand to gently press the chicken breast on the top of the air fryer if it’s still there to split the breastbone slightly.
  • After 30 minutes, turn the chicken breast side up and continue cooking.
  • A 3-pound chicken needs 45–50 minutes to cook, whereas a 4-lb chicken needs closer to 60.
  • Cook until a meat thermometer reads 165°F for the internal temperature. To make sure it doesn’t overcook, check it early.
  • While the chicken is resting, pour the drippings over vegetables (such as asparagus or cauliflower) and air fried them.

Remaining Chicken

Chicken can be kept for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer by removing the flesh from the carcass and placing it in an airtight container. (Reserve the carcass for soup).

Could you place it in the microwave to reheat? Add some salt and pepper to revive the flavours, or quickly prepare some gravy to pour over top!

Finished!

Start testing the chicken’s internal temperature as the cooking time draws close. Check the breast without touching the bone because the thighs will cook and achieve the proper internal temperature faster.

It should attain a temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit inside. As you cook, check the temperature every five minutes until it is achieved.

When it’s finished, please remove it from the basket and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing it. This will ensure that the moment you cut in, the juicy part will not last long.

Will the Chicken’s Skin Be Crispy?

You won’t believe how crisp the skin is when you remove the chicken from the air fryer.

The super-crisp and crunchy texture are aided by air circulation. It tastes good with the rub applied. Your willpower will fail you. The most pleasing aspect is how evenly the chicken is crisped throughout—no wet areas as when you bake anything.

A whole chicken is a fantastic meal because it provides many benefits. One chicken can be used to prepare several meals. Then you can use the leftovers to make chicken salad, this delicious chicken flauta, or these southwestern chicken eggrolls, among other dishes.
